IPC1751 and IPC1752 – Materials Declaration
The IPC 2-18 Declaration Process Management Subcommittee has developed a set of standards and support documents to facilitate materials declaration between electronic equipment producers and their supply chain. The electronics industry is currently using a large variety of materials declaration forms and processes. The multitude of forms is magnifying the effort by suppliers and adding delays in obtaining materials declaration information.
The IPC1751 and 1752 standards provide for different levels of declaration based on the equipment producers requirements. The proposal includes a data model, PDF forms to enter material declaration data, an XML schema for import/export of data between systems, and a user's manual
IPC 1751 and IPC 1752, release 1 became available in Feb 2006. The declaration model uses a pdf form for data entry and viewing. The use of pdf has been limitation in adoption of the standard. Version 2.0 currently under development and expected to be released later in 2008 will not be tied to pdf and is expected to have higher level of adoption.
